ibrahim abdul-matin gives Friday Khutbah (sermon) at the ADAMS Center Mosque.

On Friday, July 16, 2010, ibrahim abdul-matin, author of "Green Deen: What Islam Teaches About Protecting the Planet," had the distinct honor of giving the Friday Khutbah (sermon) at the ADAMS Center Mosque.

"It was an incredible experience to share my thoughts about Islam and the environment with the beautiful ADAMS community. The All Dulles Area Muslim Society has always been committed to protecting the planet. They were the first community to create a Go Green guide and this guide and this community is featured in my book."

The Khutbah was inspiring for all ages. Sister Aminah, mother of two said, "It was great to have a Friday sermon that my kids could understand. They know it's important to recycle - but ibrahim connected recycling to Islam. That was unique and they were very excited to hear that it was their duty as Muslims to save the Earth."

ibrahim reminded us in the Khutbah that the way we treat the planet is a reflection of the way we treat ourselves. So to treat the planet well is to treat ourselves well. "Green Deen: What Islam Teaches About Protecting the Planet" expands on this idea and will be available everywhere books are sold in Fall, 2010.
